So I have been "going green" as many as you know is some new trend or something. I am trendy in fashion, not life styles and this is what I have learned. It is not easy for sure, but being just a veghead was just the begininng.

I started a recycling program for plastic and cans at work. Since the malls are evil as it is, my little store is doing its part to stop the waste.

I dry most of my clothes and don't use the dryer. I use to dry about 4 loads of clothes a week and now I do 1-2 in the dryer.

With paper towels I rip them to the size I need and save the rest for later use. Or use cloth rags.

Cloth bags our awesome for food shopping or if you forget, ask for paper.

All I do is stop and think before I throw something away. Can I use this over?

I filter my water and don't buy water in plastic anymore. Use thermos and other containers to carry your water in to work, school, etc. It saves a lot of money too. 4 britta filters cost me $20. That is enough filters for a year. (one filter last 3mos.) And no plastic waste. Crazy enough. Compare that to a case or 2 of bottled water a week. That is $10-12 a week.

I make my own cleaning supplies now. If anyone wants the recipes just ask! Or go to my myspace Bunnyhugger profile. Some are listed there in my blogs. This is a big one for me. Chemicals are nasty for your skin and lungs. Plus your pets and the environment. Finish what you got left in your home, wash out the spray bottles and use them for these new safe recipes. Best thing I ever did.

So you don't have to be a hippie to do the right thing in your home or for others.

I just found a different way to look at things and it only takes baby steps....
